China’s road cargo grows in H1

According to the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), China’s road cargo traffic continued to grow in the first six months of 2019.

From January to June 2019, the volume of road cargo, which is the majority share in China’s total cargo transport, grew by 5%. In June alone, the volume of road cargo rose 5.5% to 3.59 billion tonnes, according to the NDRC.

The growth came amid China’a steady economic growth, which stood at 6.3% in the first six months of 2019, in line with the government’s target of between 6% and 6.5%.

In the first six months of 2019, the total volume of cargo transported by water rose vt 7.2% to 3.51 billion tonnes, according to the NDRC.
