We all thought you need a proper DHL account to ship worldwide from Kenya.
Turns out, you don't.
Last month I spoke to over 30 small shop owners from Eastleigh to Westlands to Ngong Road. They are sending parcels to the US, UK, Dubai, and Germany every single week. None of them has a DHL or FedEx account. And none of them is paying $30-$40 per box.

Customs in Europe doesn't read your product description. They only read the HS code.
These label platforms ask you three things: What is it, what is the HS code, and what is the value?
Get the code right, and your parcel clears in a few hours.
Instead of writing "Handmade Bag" on the label, write this:
Handmade Kitenge Tote Bag - HS 4202.21 - Value $25
That one line saves you a lot of duty confusion and 3-4 days of waiting at the destination.
3. You can make your first label in 7 minutes in Nairobi.
You don't need to open any business account at DHL Same-Day office.
Just open any aggregator site, enter From: Nairobi, To: Buyer's Country, and enter 1kg. It will show you the real cost — shipping plus duty.
Now copy that and send it to your buyer on WhatsApp like this: "To Berlin it's $20 for the product + $7 shipping + $3 duty = $30 delivered to your door."
If he says yes, you buy the label, print it, and stick it on the box. He gets the tracking link automatically. You can drop it at their Eastleigh or CBD collection point.
That's it.
Big brands in Industrial Area spent years trying to negotiate shipping rates.
Small brands in Ngara just skipped that and started buying a rate that already existed.
You don't need a courier account in 2027. You just need a $5 label.
